ESXi-Customizer is a user-friendly script that automates the process of customizing the ESXi install-ISO with drivers that are not originally included. Unlike other scripts and manuals that are available for this purpose ESXi-Customizer runs entirely on Windows and does not require any knowledge of or access to Linux.
End Of Support notice
The ESXi-Customizer tool is UNSUPPORTED as of Aug 21st 2015. Any known or new issues will not be fixed. For more information please read This blog post.
You are welcome to use the successor of ESXi-Customizer: The ESXi-Customizer-PS PowerCLI script.
This tool was created to provide an easy-to-use way to inject custom drivers, extensions etc. into existing installation ISOs of ESXi 4.1 and later ESXi 5.x, but it is unsupported by VMware. Since ESXi version 5.0 VMware provides a fully supported way to customize ESXi installations (through PowerCLI ImageBuilder). As of today ESXi-Customizer is deprecated by ESXi-Customizer-PS, a Powershell script that makes use of PowerCLI ImageBuilder.
- For further information, usage instructions etc. please read the project page!
- The reverse-engineered structure of the ESXi 5.x installation ISO is described in the blog post The anatomy of the ESXi 5.0 installation CD - and how to customize it.
